There is one area of the country that is frequently voted as one of the best places to live, work and play—Bend, Oregon. Bend lies along the western border of Central Oregon's high desert plateau and is appropriately named, as it’s tucked into one of the many bends of the Deschutes River. With a diverse climate that supports an array of outdoor recreation, excellent schools that offer unique learning opportunities as well as smaller class sizes, and scenery that is sure to provide more breathtaking moments than most in the country - Bend, Oregon is the ideal place to live, work, and play.
LIVE in a small but flourishing community where people, giving, and values matter.
WORK in a place where we work to live, not live to work.
PLAY in an area where the outdoors are at your front door.
The “unique combination of outdoor recreation and cosmopolitan sophistication” is a great way to describe one of the country’s best kept secrets, although people are beginning to catch on. What was once considered only a small mill town, has become an impressive mountain oasis that has it all.
Bend receives on average 12in of rain and 33in of snow – with hundreds of days of sun in-between. Some of the best days are spent floating the river on a warm Bend afternoon. And there are only a few snowfalls per year, but it accumulates quite nicely in the mountains, providing not only world-class winter recreation, but some of the cleanest and freshest water you will ever drink – once you go Bend, you won’t want to go back!
Bend boasts some of the best schools, at all levels. From grade school, high school, and beyond – the diversity of educational professionals, a generally open mindset, and an overall enthusiasm for learning, Bend fosters an ideal setting for education. This including the new OSU Cascades, which is a 4-year University that sticks with the education themes of Bend – small class sizes, unique learning opportunities, and high-quality education. Bend supports the rising generation!
Bend is consistently voted one of the best places to retire. From affordable Bend Oregon real estate, to the year-round outdoor lifestyle that is sure to keep you active, to the surprising amount of fine food and culture, not to mention excellent healthcare options. Bend will keep you active & healthy!
Bend is minutes from world class climbing, skiing, rafting, fishing, hunting, and more. Whatever your version of fun is, Bend has it. From the thrill seeker, to the quiet observer, to something in between—Bend will provide what you need!
It’s not hard to make a long list of the amazing characteristics of Bend. But that best way I can share my true feelings about Bend is to share a bit of my story. I moved to the area years ago, with my wife and 1-year-old son. Our first home was a small apartment above a barn with one of the best views of the Cascade Mountains I have ever seen. We immediately found the area to be not only beautiful but friendly and something unlike anything we had experienced before. We have since grown to a family of 5, jumped with both feet into community involvement, and built a life we love and wouldn’t trade for the world. We feel safe, we feel useful, and we feel fulfilled by the life Central Oregon is providing. We encourage our extended family to visit often, so we can show off a bit and we are proud to call this part of the country home. We have made friends, experienced firsts, and are living a life we will cherish forever. – Andrew Ellis, Owner and Listing Agent at Team Birtola Garmyn
A few simple thoughts to describe Bend:
Clean water and air, great schools, unending outdoor fun, diverse food, consistent events, kind people, culture, canyons, low crime, microbrews, entrepreneurial spirit, scenery, music, sophistication and country, shopping, work hard, play hard, not too small, resorts, an array of wildlife, changing seasons, a little hip, a little funky, the best of Oregon - with little rain, inspiring, all ages and all kinds, arts and entertainment, possibilities, and not to mention our love for dogs.
