Spring Cleaning in Warren: Recycling Events & More!
Congratulations to Laura Mandell! This amazing woman was named the March 2015 Sustainability Hero by Sustainable Jersey. In 2010, Laura started the Warren Township Green Team and has served as the chair ever since. The Warren Township Green Team is comprised of volunteers who work to serve as a resource for Warren residents regarding sustainable practice. They also work to create programs that emphasize conservation and environmental management.
Laura is also the chair of the Warren Environmental Commission, and is involved in many other endeavors that make our community a wonderful place to live in! Her well-deserved award and passion for the environment and our town are great reminders for all of us—every little bit counts, and we can all do our part in taking care of the environment.
Need some ideas for getting started in your eco-friendly spring cleaning endeavors? Here are a couple of recycling events that Warren offers its residents:

Every year, Warren County holds a bi-annual Paper Shredding events to help recycle and minimize paper waste. Here's what you can recycle: Confidential/sensitive paper material only, such as medical records, billing statements, bank statements, mortgage statements, credit applications, lease applications, exhausted contracts, telephone statements, cable statements, any document that contains personal exclusive information. Please limit the quantity to four bags or boxes weighing no more than 20 lbs. each. Staff will be available to unload documents.
Revised household battery program
The Pollution Control Financing, Authority (PCFA) collects non-alkaline dry cell batteries such as button cells, nickel-cadmium, and lithium batteries as they contain hazardous components and will be recycled by the PCFA at their Household Hazardous Waste Events that are held in the Spring and Fall each year. In addition, a collection barrel will be available at the Warren County District Landfill, Monday thru Friday, between the hours of 7:00 am - 2:30 pm, and Saturday from 7:00 am - 11:00 am for drop off of "button cell, nickel-cadmium, and lithium batteries only".
hire a professional organizer
Maybe you need a supportive nudge to decide what to throw away, recycle, donate or keep! Hiring a professional organizer and home clean-out service may be just what you need. They also arrange the donation pickups and get the junk out immediately. This is a great first step! I have a few great resources I can recommend. Just give us a call 908-287-1269!
