Tampa Bay, Florida: The Place To Be
Blog post courtesy of My Tampa Agent
You want to know a place where no one spends the winter months wishing they were somewhere else? TAMPA BAY - one of the most beautiful places in Florida and a place where people from the north come to get away from snow, ice, and cold weather.
What makes Tampa the place to be?
It could be our beautiful beaches where you can enjoy the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and stunning, picturesque sunsets. Maybe it’s all the festivals that take place year round such as; Oktoberfest, the Strawberry Festival, the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion and the Florida State Fair. Or it could be the traditional amusement parks like Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, and the Lowry Park Zoo. Either way you’ll always have plenty to keep you busy.
There are also year-round sports, thanks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Not to mention, Tampa is the home to spring training for multiple baseball teams - they’ve already figured out that Tampa Bay is the place to be in February and March.
Of course, there’s more to Tampa Bay than sports. Concerts at Ruth Eckerd Hall and Amalie Arena cover nearly every style of music you can imagine, especially old favorites like Peter Frampton, Don McLean, and ZZ Top not to mention local talent showcased in clubs and bars throughout St. Petersburg, Clearwater and downtown. The Straz Center offers Broadway shows, full scale Opera productions, and arts and education. The Straz is the largest performing arts center in the Southeast and the only one with an on-site performing arts conservatory.
When you’re ready to slow down and enjoy the beautiful “winter” weather, you’ve got trails, parks, rivers, and wetlands to explore. Or you could choose any one of the local golf courses, many of which are known around the world like Innisbrook in Palm Harbor or World Woods, one of the top five public golf courses in Florida and one of the most beautiful.
Maybe we’re bragging a little bit, but why shouldn’t we? When other areas, like New England, have freezing temperatures and are still in the thick of winter, snow and ice in January, the high temperature in Tampa will be around 60 degrees during the day, and at night, it may not drop below 50. There are no “winter blues” here, with 246 days of sun each year, most of the winter is bright and beautiful. We love Tampa Bay, and we think you will too.
