February has just started, and this month has some fun events and happenings in Central New Jersey! We recommend marking your calendars in advance so you have time for it all! :)

Here's what's happening in Central New Jersey this weekend:

1. The Confident Young Girl: Taking Care of Yourself from the Inside Out

When: Feb 11, 2017 at 9:00am

Cost:  Members: $30; Non-Members: $45

Give the gift of confidence to the young lady in your life! Help the young lady in your life get to know herself and the power she has within that will radiate and make her shine through life! 

2. STEM Saturday

Get some much-needed quality time with your children and expand your minds together! Expose kids to fascinating STEM-focused topics and create lifelong learners!

3.  Backyard Birding for Families at Reeves-Reed Arboretum

When: Feb 11, 2017 at 10:00am 

Where: Reeves-Reed Arboretum, 165 Hobart Ave., Summit, NJ 07901

Food is scarce for our beautiful feathered friends during winters and here is when you can step in and do a good deed. Come learn how to make a birdfeeder (plus, you get to take it home!) as you learn about the kinds of birds that may come say hi and enjoy the treats you set out for them.

4.  The Daughters of the American Revolution Benefits Homeless Veterans

When: Feb 11, 2017 at 10:00am 

Where: Stop & Shop, 553 South Finley Avenue, Lyons Mall, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920

Community Hope gives temporary housing as homeless veterans transition. Bring canned goods, (non-perishables please!) like canned fish, chicken, and meat; soups and stews; fruits and vegetables; peanut butter and jelly; juice, cereal, and condiments. Self-cleaning products too, like shampoo, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors and shaving cream. Support the veterans who fought for our freedom and give generously!

5. Fresh Saturday Mornings at Lord Stirling Stables

When: February 11 at Saturdays 10:15 a.m

Where: Lord Stirling Stables, 256 Stirling Stable, 256 Maple Ave. Basking Ridge, NJ 07920

Take along your loyal furball (but don't forget the leash!) and be sure to layer up before heading off to the stables of Lord Stirling. Traipse the gentle rolling path hills of the area and take in the freshness of a new morning!

6. Scleroderma Foundation Educational Forum - My Journey with Scleroderma, Transplant and Survival

When: Feb 11, 2017 at 11:00am

Caregivers and patients of scleroderma will be given a free forum focusing on the education and care of this non-contagious disease. Find out all you need to know about it and learn how to give yourself or someone you love better care.

7. Valentine Cookie Baking Class

8. “In the Still of the Night”: RB Express

9. SAT Preparation Course at the Hillsborough Municipal Building and Immaculata High School

  • 12 Hour test preparation course at the Hillsborough Municipal Building to prepare students for the upcoming SAT and ACT exams.
  • Cost: $369 includes text and materials
  • Each course has (4) three hour classes
  • Make-up classes are available 
  • Strategies are taught, and lessons are given, for all areas tested. 
  • SAT prep courses review: Reading, Writing and Language Skills, Math, and Essay Writing. 
  • ACT prep courses review: English, Math, Reading, Science, and Essay Writing. 
  • Students work on official College Board (or ACT) exams. Each test question is reviewed and students get a score for each test section. 
  • Proven strategies are emphasized for each section of the exam.

10.  Cedar Hill Valentine’s Lunch

Fee: $45 per person

Enjoy Pre-Valentine’s Day with a delicious lunch to benefit 35 children in need of after school enrichment! Support the Cedar Hill CDC Community After School Program at St. John’s Church in Boonton this Sunday. With your donation, you can help create a safe and nurturing environment for low-income children in need of academic, technical support, sports and other physical activities, music, and the arts.
