Things to Do On Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving weekend is almost around the corner, and I'm sure you're wondering what to do over the long holiday weekend. Make the most out of the holiday by spending a fun-filled time with family and friends! Central New Jersey is just chock-full of events and happenings, and here are some things you can do!
Take the Kids Out
Before gorging on the glorious Thanksgiving feast that you prepared, take your kids out for a simple family day! Hop aboard the Polar Express at the Whippany Station for an hour of a magical train ride with hot chocolate and cookies and storytelling time for the kids. And if your kids are looking to explore the great wonders of nature, The Somerset County Park features the Green Team Program, a 3-hour program for your teens at the Environmental Education Center that will satisfy their curiosity of the great outdoors. And to cap the Thanksgiving weekend, treat your kids to a special show at the Mayo Performing Arts Center for the Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage as your favorite Peanuts characters come to life to provide a night of singing, dancing, and laughter.
After the Thanksgiving feast, burn off a little of the calories gained. Start the week right with a Monday Morning Yoga, a free event brought by The United Methodist Church. Learn breathing techniques and good stretching to help relieve stress and have a worry-free week ahead.
Get A Headstart for The Christmas Holidays
The long weekend is the perfect opportunity to get a lead on your Christmas spirit! Celebrate the holidays with soaring vocal harmonies, precision instrumentation and a touch of Christmas magic that appeals to the whole family at the Wizards of Winter at the Mayo Arts Performing Center. Get a head start on your Christmas shopping at the Shop Small & Support the AFSP Bazaar at the Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company and support local businesses and get great deals on quality products.
No weekend is complete without being able to have some alone time and de-stressing activities. Have a go at the Open Mic Night by yourself or with friends and belt out your favorite tunes. This activity provides a stage for people with a welcoming, non-judgmental, non-competitive venue to explore and express their talents. If you're looking for a good laugh, check out the Manhattan Comedy Night November for a comic relief straight from the clubs of New York City.
However you would like to spend Thanksgiving, I hope you would have fun and excitement. And from all of us at the Weiniger Group, a BIG THANK YOU and Happy Thanksgiving!
